Characters in the Cosmos: Meet Morgen Ellis
This week we welcome Charise Clarke's Morgen Ellis from Magic in the Mists: The Awakening. Clarke is currently writing the manuscript and in the process of a rewrite to move the story into a first person point of view so that readers can see from Morgen's perspective as she discovers her destiny. You can find Clarke on Twitter, on Instagram, and on Facebook.
Who are you?
What do you do?
Life started off as a student, now it seems I am the ruler of all the realms.
What is your greatest fear?
Loss. I fear losing myself, and those that I love.
What's the worst thing that's happened in your life?
Losing my parents, one lied and betrayed me and the other was taken from me, but I will find them.
What did you learn from it?
That I am strong and that in some ways they held me back in others they were my strength that helped me in this journey called life. This biggest thing I learned was to be true to myself and my heart. By doing this I will be the best me that I can be, not only for myself but also for the realms and those that reside within them.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
I have many loves, but one of the greatest is myself. For I had to learn to love myself to discover my power and to battle the Brawd Drwg, to protect the realms. But I find my life it filled with many great loves, but the greatest is knowing it's ok to love myself.
When and where were you happiest?
At this point in my life the happiest I have been is with my family and loved ones, the where doesn't matter. It's the who. From our time spent at the castle in woods, to the time at the cabin, I have loved it all and was very happy even if they were filled with some of my scariest times as well. But I found myself in those moments and that makes me happy.
What is your most treasured possession?
Oh wow, this is hard, I value people and memories more than possessions. But it would have to be Calawlch, my sword. A gift from the goddess to my great grandmother and then gifted to me after it was said to be melted down and used by the Brawd Drwg. It was a sword made by the great god for his love the goddess, to be honored with it is a gift.
What do you most value in your friends?
I grew up not having a lot of friends, my best friend Sally has always been there for me. She is sweet and honest and there for me in the bad times as well as the good. Gavin, pushes me to be honest and true to myself. Helps me find a strength I didn't know I had. I value what they all add to my life because I wonder how lost I would be without them.
Tell me about your best friend.
Sally is my best friend.
How did you meet?
We met in school, in second grade.
What do you like about this person?
She is an outgoing loving person that everyone loves, she pushes me out of my bubble. She challenges me in ways I need. Pushing me to try new things and live a normal life. She also gets me and my needs and understands that I am different.
What do you think they like about you?
Wow, I find these questions hard, I hope she loves my kind and loving nature. That I am there to support her in her times of need and joy. That I love her like a sister.
What's the worst thing you've ever done to someone?
To be honest, I have always strived to treat people fair and justly, but the worst I have done is harmed another with my powers or while in battle.
It's not something I am proud of but I was trying to safe my life and that of others that I loved and cared about. In a way it was war. I have never killed someone and I don't want people dying because of me, but I can't say the same for the Brawd Drwg, they are out for power and control and will not stop at anything to get it.
What is your ideal world?
My ideal world is free from war, and those that wish harm on others, yet I know that there must be balance between what we see as good and bad. So, I hope for balance. I hope for enough food for all, magic for all and happiness. My ideal world needs no leaders or weapons.
